WHAT IS THE FRIENDS OF CARLETON RUGBY (FOCR)?
After a wildly successful and well-attended Carleton College Rugby Club reunion, celebrating the 50th and 40th anniversaries of the teams, a small group of alumni, led by Pete Sickle ’89, crafted a strategic plan for the club. The strategic plan, which you can read here, called for an alumni support organization to ensure both the men’s and women’s teams are provided consistent, adequate financial support to continue the successful legacy of Carleton College rugby, and compete at a high level. Thus, FOCR was created.
WHAT ROLE DOES FOCR PLAY?
FOCR aims to support activities that allow the club to compete at a high level-locally, regionally, and nationally, whether that is funding coaching, practice facilities, equipment, tournament and registration fees, travel, or transportation. Funding priorities are established in collaboration with leadership from both the current men’s and women’s teams and Carleton’s Club Sports Director. Current funding priorities include indoor field rental for winter practices, expenses for volunteer coaches for both teams, elevating visibility of Carleton Rugby with youth players, and training resources.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The FOCR Board of Directors is comprised of multiple generations of CCRFC alumni volunteers, along with representatives from the current Carleton men’s and women’s rugby teams. If you are interested in serving on the Board, send us an email at friendsofcarletonrugby@gmail.com.
