FOCR is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support the men’s and women’s rugby teams at Carleton College. Please join us in supporting the teams!

Donating to Friends of Carleton Rugby

FOCR is an independent 501(c)(3) corporation run by Carleton rugby alumni, with the purpose of raising funds to directly benefit the men’s and women’s rugby teams. The dollars administered through this fund address the important need for additional funding after the college-allocated budgets are spent. We support opportunities that go beyond the standard club sports experience at Carleton such as: external tournaments, national exhibition opportunities, and intern/externships paired with opportunities to play for local clubs. Carleton Rugby Endowed Fund 

The Carleton Rugby Endowed Fund was started in 2022 by Bob Lea ‘75 in memory of his wife Catherine Lea ‘76 and is managed by Carleton College. This fund’s spendable earned income is added annually to the budget for the rugby teams equally, in compliance with Title IX. The team liaison makes requests to the club director who then meets with the Athletic Director for approval. This fund is currently at just over $200,000; growth of this fund allows for a continuously larger sum to be deposited into the teams’ budgets each year. You can make a gift through the phone at 800-758-9441, and clarify that your gift is to go into the “Carleton Rugby Endowed Fund.”

Carleton Athletic Initiative

The Carleton Athletic Initiative (CAI) is a designation of the Alumni Annual Fund which supports all sports operations at Carleton (not specifically club sports or rugby, although all sports teams benefit in some way). This fund is a shared pool that targets yearly expenses such as equipment for 19 men’s and women’s varsity athletic teams, providing opportunities for students to participate in club sports, physical education classes, and intramural athletic, wellness offerings, improvements to Carleton’s athletics and wellness facilities as well as transportation for athletic events.
